Hmm, well I don't know. Perhaps the Verdi is better to sing than to listen to? It had some exciting bits in it to be sure, but 'twas all a bit too epic for my tastes :-)
But the epicness it what makes it great! It is a proper long meaty (beef) work as opposed to a short bit of instantly forgettable filler. It deals with the great mystery that is death, both the fear of it and the ethereal beauty of heaven. It has despair and acceptance...and joy in the middle with the fabulous Sanctus. Plus it's fabulous to sing! So there. :op

Not just beef... Verdi is full on T-Bone Steak. 32 oz minimum. I'd even go as far as saying it's the whole damned Bull!
