Things you didn't know about UCAS #103

They have really excellent hold music. With most companies you either get muzak or the Four Seasons, but today at UCAS they were playing a lovely violin concerto from the Classical period (I have to say I don't know which one it was) and what's more, they weren't just doing a small section on a loop - you got the whole lot. The first time I called them I was on hold for ages and I really enjoyed listening to a lovely long section of the first movement (I assume) while the second time I got some of the second movement. It almost made up for the fact that each of the three people I spoke to was unhelpful and/or slightly incompetent...

In other, much more exciting, news, the lovely Raquel is back in the country! Woohoo! Getting a random phonecall from Leeds cheered me up no end this evening, and now I can't wait for Saturday night. Hurrah.

I think Royal Mail have excellent hold music. Not sure it's for the whole company but it is definitely on the business response services sector. It's like a cross between teletubbies and a symphony. Genius.

mine came while we were in Sains buying cheesecake! Am uber excited!

Try ringing WCC - our hold music is eine kleine nachtmusik and it's on a really annoying cycle.

Yay for Raquel being back!!

Why don't more companies do whole pieces of music like that? It seems so obvious and such a good way to reduce the amount of complaints they get from people sick of holding.

I don't care what hold music they have on as long as they don't have some irritating voice saying enthusiastically "Your call is important to us and we will answer as soon as possible, thank you for continuing to hold" and then leaving you hold for a further half an hour. If it's going to be half an hour, bloody well say so.

If I had a choice, I'd have a bit of Black Dyke or Grimey on in the hold queue. That'd keep me more entertained than bloody violins.

Well that IS a suprise Ben! There was me thinking you would like nothing better than listening to some violin concertos for the hour that you have been inconvienienced, with an interruption every few minutes of 'you call is important to us...'

Just as a random aside, everytime I hear the word 'dyke' I just can't help but snigger. I am a disgrace.
